SMSC

SMSC stands for Short Message Service Centre. It is a server that is connected to an SS7 network, whose role is to store "and forward" SMS messages to a recipient handset.

If you check your handset's setting you will find the SMSC is stored as a mobile phone number. Each provider will normally have multiple SMSC available.
